Man says he's stabbed while standing on downtown corner at 3 a.m.

THE FOLLOWING IS A NEWS RELEASE FROM THE WILMINGTON POLICE DEPARTMENT:

Case#: 2011-008419
Time: 3:00 a.m. – Tuesday morning
Location: 10th and Campbell Streets

Offense: Assault with intent to kill inflicting serious bodily injury (ADWIKISBI) / Armed Robbery

Summary: The male victim, age 46, walked to his brother’s house in the 900 block of Rankin Street after being stabbed multiple times.

The victim was transported to NHRMC for treatment.

He told investigators that he was on the corner at 10th and Campbell when a man drove up in a burgundy jeep and asked him if he had anything (drugs) to sell.

He said that when he replied he didn’t have anything, the man got out of the jeep, stabbed him several times, took his money, and then drove away.

The victim could describe the robber only as a white male, age 40s – 50s, with a moustache. The case is under investigation.
