I really don't believe this as anything to do with "...politicians dipping their hands in the funds...". This has to do with honoring the men and women that have bravely fought and died for the freedoms we get to enjoy in this country.
Oh...and guess who pays for the prisoners that make and install those signs? Righto, Johnny and Judy Taxpayer!
For all of you complaining about 100k, that's smalltime money these days, but like I said in my previous post, they spent much more than that on the brick and concrete for a memorium on 3rd street that noboby even uses. I've NEVER seen anyone walking or sitting there (could get robbed and shot, I suppose). The city has a half million dollars in street sweeping equipment that does nothing but clean out potholes for Christ's sake!
Can't we have a little public recognition for our wonderful soldiers without people complaining about the cost of signage? Geeezzz...
