NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Turmoil in the Middle East is taking its toll on our wallets and some of our favorite hobbies. Gas prices have been climbing all week, and analysts don't see an end in sight.
With prices hovering just below $3.50, boaters are feeling the pinch too. Avid boaters have to decide just how important their love for the water is.
"I'm thinking that the gas prices will probably hold some people back, but the hardcore boaters are gonna go. It's just in us. We're gonna spend the money to do what we love." Isaac Blaylock has been boating for fun for over 50 years, but said he feels bad for charter fisherman who make their life on the water.
Bridge Tender Marina Dockmaster Tripp Brice said the gas prices are going to effect the economy of the whole coast because if less people are in the ocean, less people will be eating at the restaurants, and less people will be staying in the hotels.
