WILMINGTON, NC - An unseasonably cold and dry air mass with light winds and clear skies will settle over the Eastern Carolinas tonight. This will lead to widespread temperature readings of right around freezing by daybreak Wednesday morning. Some normally colder locations could drop into the upper 20s...while the beaches will see mid to upper 30s.
While the growing season has not yet officially begun...a recent string of warm days has seen some plants break dormancy. Tender plants and animals that could be injured or killed by freezing temperatures should be brought inside or otherwise protected.
