the same parameters aren't applied towards those who want to purchase auto insurance? It's called risk management. Would you, as the insurance company, want to be forced to insure a person who'd driving record includes multiple at-fault accidents and DWI's?
Until the cost of healthcare goes down, insurance premiums won't. Why individuals feel their health insurance should cover everything is something I don't understand. Your car insurance doesn't pay for oil changes and tire rotations.
Over-utilization of health insurance helps to drive the cost of health care. Paying for your own doctor visits would help to lower the cost of health insurance.
I personally pay for my own health insurance...a high-deductible policy with a HSA...and I'm not in the health insurance industry.
Far too many people use the term "health care" when they really are talking about health insurance. There is no shortage or lack of access to health care in this area. Merely stop in at the ER at either hospital, and they have to treat you. Whether you pay the bill or not is up to you.
