RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- A baby sitter has been charged with child abuse after Wake County authorities said she fell asleep and allowed a little girl to wander away for five hours.
The News and Observer of Raleigh reports that 21-year-old Deyanira Manuel Macedonio faces a misdemeanor child abuse charge after the disappearance of the preschooler Tuesday in an unincorporated area of Wake County.
Documents in the county magistrate's office say Macedonio is accused of failing to supervise the child and failing to notify authorities she was missing.
The girl was found by a neighbor unharmed.
Macedonio was being held in the Wake County jail. It was unclear if she has an attorney.
