WPD: No leads on puppy killer despite reward

READ MORE:

THE FOLLOWING IS FROM A NEWS RELEASE SENT TO THE WWAY NEWSCHANNEL 3 NEWSROOM:

WPD investigators have been unsuccessful in locating the person(s) who killed two puppies on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. In response to media coverage, several animal welfare organizations have pledged money for a reward for anyone supplying information that leads to an arrest. Pledges currently total more than $2,000.

WPD officers distributed fliers in the area to advertise the potential reward, but no one has come forward. Current leads have been exhausted. Additional publicity is one of the only resources we have left.

Animal cruelty cases resonate with a large segment of the public, as we saw on blog sites after this story was publicized. There is not much we can offer from a law enforcement perspective, but undoubtedly there are others in the community who would welcome the opportunity to speak (i.e., perhaps Animal Control, several of the contributing animal welfare organizations, veterinarians who see these cases, and so on). If your news organization is interested in following up, please let us know.
