Admitted bank robber makes court appearance

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A man who admitted robbing two Columbus County banks made his first appearance in court today. Investigators say 29-year-old Jonathan Bo Drye admitted robbing the First Bank in Whiteville yesterday and the BB&T in Riegelwood last week.

They say Drye told them he did it because he's going through some tough times. Police say he just came off probation earlier this month after serving seven year in prison for robbing a Bladen County bank.

Drye is in the Columbus County Jail under $500,000 bond.
