RALEIGH, NC(AP)-- A Polk County man has died when a tree fell on his pickup truck during storms that moved across North Carolina. The Hendersonville Times-News reported that 55-year-old William Allison was driving near his home when a tree was blown over late Wednesday afternoon. A Wilson County family lost the roof from a mobile home during a strong thunderstorm. Greg Franklin says he and his son were inside their Elm City home when the roof was torn off about 5 p.m. Wednesday. No one was hurt. Utility company officials said heavy winds led to loss of power for about 2,250 residents in Orange County, Johnston County, Wake County and other areas. About 1,2000 customers were still without service across the state Thursday morning. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
