NC couple charged with abusing children, pets

ROCKWELL, NC(AP) -- A Rowan County couple that runs a pet
store has been charged with animal cruelty and child abuse.

Thirty-seven-year-old David Lore and 35-year-old Angela Lore are
each charged with four counts of child abuse and four counts of
contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The owners of Pet Place
in Salisbury also each face three counts of animal cruelty.

They were being held in the Rowan County jail. It wasn't clear
if they have lawyers.

The Department of Social Services has removed the couple's four
children, ages 7, 9, 14 and 16.

The sheriff's office says officials investigated reports of
unfit living conditions in the home. Officials say the children
were not enrolled in school and had received little medical
attention. Officials removed three dogs from the home.
