Panthers sign second-round pick Jarrett

Story body

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- The Carolina Panthers today signed second-round pick Dwayne Jarrett to a four-year contract worth nearly $4 million. The signing leaves only first-round pick Jon Beason, a linebacker from Miami, unsigned on the first day of training camp at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Jarrett is a receiver from Southern California. He will get nearly two (m million dollars in guaranteed bonuses and incentives, making the deal one of the largest in guaranteed money for a second-round pick. Jarrett arrived at Wofford today to sign the paperwork and was off to team meetings. Jarrett is expected to contend for the starting receiver job vacated when Keyshawn Johnson was released in the off-season. The team's other second-round pick, center Ryan Kalil, signed late yesterday. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
