2011 season starts Saturday for Hammerheads

READ MORE: 2011 season starts Saturday for Hammerheads

WILMINGTON,NC (WWAY) -- The pre-season schedule is over. It's now game time for the Wilmington Hammerheads. The home opener and season opener will be Saturday night at Legion Stadium against the Rochester Rhinos. There are only three players on this year's team that have been Hammerheads before. Defender Jamie Scope is one of the Hammerheads. "Anyone can beat anyone in soccer, Scope said. "I think we have a really strong team. Obviously Rochester has a lot of tradition. They're one of the top teams in the division where we didn't even have a team last year. We're definitely the underdogs, but with a good crowd and if we do the things we've been working on I don't see any reason we can't go out and win on Saturday."

David Irving is back as the Hammerheads head coach. "We're young. Irving said on Tuesday. "We've had a good pre-season, but pre-season is pre-season. We now have to jump into the frying pan to play Rochester. It's going to be a tough game. That's for sure."

For the first time all of the Wilmington home games will be streamed online via (US Soccer League), and will be broadcast on the local Spanish radio channel, Radio Maxima at AM 1180 and FM 95.9.
