My point is the more conservative republicans fought hard to keep Bush's "temporary" tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans, and and the same time are proposing cuts to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. They are wanting to put more of a burden on those that can least afford it while giving tax breaks to those who can most afford it.
I've been in both the public and private sectors for the last 20 years. All my public sector jobs paid 100% of employee health insurance. About half my private sector jobs paid 100% of insurance, and the others paid 50%. But by far, I made substantially greater amounts of money in the private sector doing the same job. The public sector jobs made up some of the difference for the lower pay by giving me better benefits. And now they want to take that away from them too?
