Student flies high with award winning aerobatic pilot

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The Coastal Carolina Air Show is this weekend at the Wilmington International Airport. A Holly Shelter Middle School eighth grader got the chance of a lifetime to fly with one of the show's aerobatic pilots.

After winning an essay contest, T.J. Williams won a ride with the award winning pilot Greg Poe. The essay contest was through Poe's organization "Elevate Your Life," which strives to motivate children to reach for the sky.

In his essay, Williams wrote about what his dreams in life are and how he plans to achieve them.

"I wrote about how I want to be successful in life no matter what," Williams said. "If I'm a trash man, I want to be the best trash man there is. I want to become a professional athlete too."

You can catch Greg Poe this Saturday and Sunday at the air show.
