CAMP LEJEUNE, NC (AP) -- Camp Lejeune is recovering from a weekend storm that seriously hurt one toddler and is keeping some children out of classes. A spokesman at the Marine Corps base said the nearly two-year-old remained in critical condition Monday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville after Saturday's storm. First Lt. Nicole Fiedler says the child's father is on emergency leave to be with his family. Camp Lejeune officials say Saturday's storm completely destroyed about a dozen homes on base and caused structural damage to up to 60 more. About 50 on-base homes had broken windows, ripped siding and gutters, and other minor damage. One of the on-base schools teaching the children of Marines is closed Monday and Tuesday due to significant damage. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
