Well, considering Jet A costs about $5 per gallon and most small to mid size jets burn around 5,000 lbs per hour (roughly), divide by 6 (6 lbs per gallon), roughly 833 gallons per hour PER JET! Yeah, it's a lot of money.
On a side note, hopefully American Eagle's Chicago flights foster lots of interest so that they upgrade the plane from an ERJ to a Boeing 737, then hopefully US Airways will notice and start putting in more mainline flights too.
