YOU have a choice to fly on an airline, ship a package, etc.
The airline doesn't have a choice - they HAVE to fly. Fedex doesn't have a choice - they HAVE to deliver packages. That's what they do.
So taking a trip may occupy two days of your life this year. Shipping a package may take up ten minutes. Meanwhile, the airline is 100% consumed by flying every day of every year. Fedex is 100% consumed by delivering packages on time.
So they CAN'T take the hit, or pretty soon they'd be gone. You don't HAVE to fly tomorrow. They do! Accordingly, the increasing costs of business are almost always borne by the customers.
When Duke and SCANA build those new nuclear plants, who do you think is going to pay for them?
