Jon David was the Asst. DA to his brother Ben, the DA, when this case started. It takes a couple of years to get a case like this through the system. His brother had him running the whole office in New Hanover County. Putting the offender in county on one of those high dollar bonds would have kept the guy away from his mother's home. That is not uncommon behavior in crack addicts to threaten family members. There are seriously dangerous gangs in New Hanover, Pender and adjoining counties dealing drugs. Jon is afraid of those really bad people and worried about their other members if he goes after the dangerous ones. So we got the wimp addicts in jail for 18 years and the dangerous ones are out there doing business as usual. Thats why we're seeing all the rise in the violent home invasions and victims being gunned down. Those people see what the DA is doing on the news... spending his time going after teenage girl assaults and senior citizens and such as that and simple addicts getting life sentences.
