TABOR CITY, NC (WWAY) - The Tabor City Police Detective who discovered an interview with Allen "Frog" Strickland Sunday night and caused the mistrial today has legal issues of his own.

Det. Greg Sibbett is on administrative leave from the Tabor City Police Department. He's charged with assault by pointing a gun and two counts of illegally arresting two men.

He detained two teenagers outside of the Tabor City jurisdiction. Sibbett says he saw the boys knocking over trash cans with a pick-up truck. He also claims neither had a drivers license. Sibbett denies ever using a gun during the incident, and other officers who responded say they never saw him use a gun, either.
