ABERDEEN, NC (AP) -- Aberdeen police have charged a man with felony child abuse after he crashed his sports utility vehicle with four children inside and then registered three times the legal limit for drinking and driving. The Fayetteville Observer reports that 32-year-old Stacy Ray Whisenand of Aberdeen also faces charges of driving while impaired, driving while his license was revoked, and reckless driving in a weekend wreck. Deputy Police Chief Jim Foster says Whisenand lost control of his SUV while traveling about 35 miles per hour. The vehicle rolled onto its side. The children - ages 15, 13, 12 and 8 - were not hurt. Foster says Whisenand's blood-alcohol level registered 0.25 percent. The legal limit in North Carolina is 0.08 percent. It was not immediately known if he has a lawyer.
