Thousands expected at Prosser funeral

Story body

WINSTON-SALEM (AP) -- The funeral for Wake Forest basketball coach Skip Prosser is scheduled tonight, five days after he died suddenly of an apparent heart attack.

Coaches from across the country and former Demon Deacons players are expected to pack a Catholic church in Winston-Salem to honor and remember Prosser.

He was the 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference coach of the year who led Wake Forest to its first Number One national ranking in 2004-05.

Thousands more mourners are expected to view a simulcast of the service at Wait Chapel on the Wake Forest campus. Prosser was found slumped on his office couch and unresponsive shortly after his noon jog last Thursday. Prosser was pronounced dead after being taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
