30 suffer minor injuries when bus overturns in Raleigh

READ MORE:

RALEIGH (AP) -- Raleigh police say 30 people suffered minor injuries when a speeding Greyhound bus overturned on an exit ramp from Interstate 440 early this morning.

Police say the bus was traveling 75 miles per hour, 15 miles per hour over the limit. They say the bus went down the ramp and left 131 feet of skid marks before landing on its side.

Injured passengers were taken to area hospitals, where most were treated and released. A Greyhound spokeswoman says the company is arranging transportation for them. Another bus picked up the uninjured passengers for the rest of the trip.

The bus was carrying 47 passengers. It started in Jacksonville, Florida, and had stopped in Fayetteville and Raleigh. It was bound for Richmond, Virginia.

The bus driver was cited for careless and reckless driving.
