WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Community members came together tonight to practice living a healthy lifestyle. Rep. Mike McIntyre hosted Southeastern North Carolina in Motion with the City of Wilmington and New Hanover County parks and gardens departments. The interactive program worked with adults and children to teach them the benefits of healthy eating, participating in sports and the value of teamwork. McIntyre admits there are many advantages to living an active lifestyle. "We know there is a big emphasis on heath care as we grow older," he said. "One of the ways that's been proven starting with young children and right up through adulthood is that more active you are physically the better shape you stay in mentally." There were many opportunities for kids to get involved and get active. Special guests included the NFL, NCAA, US Olympic committee and USA Hockey. The event took place at CFCC Schwartz center and was free to the public.
