NC State AD Debbie Yow back in the Port City

READ MORE: NC State AD Debbie Yow back in the Port City

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- 2011 has been an eventful year for Wolfpack athletics and it's not even over. Sidney Lowe resigned as head basketball coach in March. NC State AD Debbie Yow hired Mark Gottfried in April to replace Lowe.

"People appreciate his experience at the University of Alabama in the fact that he built that program at one time into the number one program in the United States," Yow said. "He's done a lot to insure that people have received him well. He's so friendly and outgoing and obviously so happy to be here."

Wednesday night in Wilmington the Wolfpack caravan rolled into town for a meet and greet at Carolina BBQ. Football coach Tom O'Brien headlined the event. In 2010 NC State won nine games overall. 2011 has the potential to be even better, but the quarterback will not be Russell Wilson. Instead, Mike Glennon will be under center. "

Our focus is we take the strengths of our quarterbacks and minimize their weaknesses," O'Brien said. "The offense will be built upon Mike Glennon's strengths."

NC State opens the 2011 season at home against Liberty September 3.
