No sentence yet for Thomas

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- Day three of deliberations in a quadruple murder case in Columbus County and still no sentence. A jury took just a few hours May 5 to convict Danny Lamont Thomas of killing four people in Chadbourn in 2005 but their decision of how he should pay for the crimes is taking much longer.

Monday the jury was given some brief instructions from Judge Thomas Lock similar to the ones they were read when they first started deliberating a sentence last week. The instructions stated that the jury will do it's best to reach a unanimous verdict but should not feel pressure to change their beliefs just to come to that unanimous verdict. The defense was concerned about presenting the instructions again to the jury; telling the court that it would only put pressure on the jury to reach a verdict. Judge Lock decided to read the jury the instructions anyways.

The jury will continue deliberations tomorrow at 1:00 P.M.
