Brunswick County teen named president of VFW Ladies Auxiliary

READ MORE: Brunswick County teen named president of VFW Ladies Auxiliary

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- Sixteen-year-old Rose Seltzer is no average teenager. The Brunswick County senior gave up karate classes and the piano for something close to her heart.

Seltzer is one of the youngest members of Leland’s VFW Post 9408 Ladies Auxiliary. She was named the group's new president Thursday night taking over the position her mother has held for years.

In fact, Seltzer started serving at the VFW at age four. Her father, Dave, was an All American Commander at the post.

Seltzer says she knows she will have to sacrifice time with friends to fulfill her new duties, but she feels she's doing what's right as a young American.

"If you're born here in America, you learn to live it every day for what it is and for what God blesses you with," she said. "If you believe, it's your choice, but I believe God blessed me by letting me be born here."
