Wilmington port gets federal money for dredging

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The State Port of Wilmington is getting some federal help clearing the way for ships.

The Wilmington Harbor Project will receive an additional $13.5 million to improve the Eagle Island dredged material disposal facility. The governor's office says improving the Eagle Island facility will accommodate additional dredging requirements for the port, enable continued maintenance of the navigation channel, save money and add construction jobs.
