Walkers and bikers have every right to share the road with vehicles. I do every day on my bike. However, I have to take responsibility for myself and have some kind of self preservation instinct. I always assume people aren't looking out for me to be on the road. I ride/walk very defensively. I wear reflectors and bright clothing. I follow all the traffic rules. This won't always save you but to walk out in front of a car at night when it is dark is just not smart. When you are traveling at night it can be very hard to see something in the road until you are right on top of it and Carolina Beach road has a speed limit of 45 to I think even 55 in places (not positive so don't freak out in your replies) I do however feel bad for the guy that was hit, it is a tough price to pay for being irresponsible.
