N.C. temps to hit 100 degrees

RALEIGH (AP) -- Triple-digit heat is here. Weather forecasters say much of North Carolina will see high temperatures around 100 degrees today and will see the heat index rise above that mark. The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat watch for many counties in the eastern part of the state. Heat and humidity has also triggered a heat advisory for North Carolina's southeast. Forecasters are also warning tomorrow's heat index values could reach as high as 112 degrees in North Carolina's eastern counties. The weather service says the ridge of high pressure that is causing the high temperatures won't begin to drift south until late Thursday. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press.
