I'm tired of hearing about the state being broke, a concept repeated by intellectually broke citizens. There are three easy solutions to creating a budget surplus without cutting state jobs: 1. sales tax of one penny, 2. privatize ABC stores (getting government out of our liquor), 3. eliminate waste at the state and local level. State employment is no more or less important than private sector employment. In fact, government services exist where no profit should be made--a primary reason why administrators from the private sector are terrible legislators. Pass this budget, increase unemployment. Pass this budget, lose talent in this state. Pass this budget, turn us into Mississippi.
