NC cops: Road might have contributed to wreck

ASHEVILLE, NC (AP) -- Asheville police traffic investigators
say increased development along a highway where two teens were
killed could have contributed to the crash.

WLOS-TV reports that 18-year-olds Stephen Mills and Nicholas
Montagna were killed Monday when a car driven by Mills lost
control, went airborne and slammed into a muddy embankment. Five
other teens in the car were injured.

Police say the road they were traveling was designed 30 years
ago as a low-capacity residential street. The area has grown
significantly and created congested conditions.

An initial report indicates Mills was driving well over the 35
mph speed limit.
