READ MORE:

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- More than 120 libraries in North Carolina
will receive funding for collections, technology upgrades and other
improvements through a $2 million grant announced by the state
Department of Cultural Resources.

Agency director Linda Carlisle said Tuesday the money is being
provided through the federal Institute of Museum and Library
Services and will benefit 123 individual projects in the state.

Spokeswoman Pan Jaskot says North Carolina is among a handful of
states to award half of its annual federal library funds to local
projects. The rest of the money goes to statewide projects.

Buncombe County plans to use its share to upgrade its wireless
server system. Greensboro will expand its teen leadership project.
The Neuse Regional Library will upgrade outdated hardware.
