Is the following report true about the State speaker Tillis, as reported in Star News, Opinion section -- yesterday's edition? If so, how does this match with a call for austerity across the NC budget??
excerpt from editorial:
Tillis, alleged harbinger of austere government, apparently doesn't apply that same standard to the staff of assistants who do his bidding in the Legislative Building in Raleigh. The Mecklenburg County Republican wouldn't budge when it came to finding enough money to prevent drastic cuts in education and medical assistance to the poor. But he managed to find enough money to give double-digit raises to his staffers, some of whom have been on the job only since January.
Is this true?
