Two arrested in motel room robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A male victim reported a robbery on June 14th at around 9:30 pm. The robbery occurred at the Best Value Inn at 5041 Market Street. The victim states that he had arranged to meet up with a woman at the motel, but when he arrived at the room, she wasn't there. Instead, someone emerged from the bathroom and pointed a gun at the victim, demanding the victim's money, which the victim complied with before fleeing.

The man who emerged from the bathroom and the woman who the victim had originally intended to meet were in the motel room when Wilmington Police Department officers arrived. 36-year-old Willie Edward Lafonza Mcbride and the female, 22-year-old Corey Michael Lea, were charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit a robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Both are in custody at the New Hanover County detention facility with bond set at $15,000 each.
