Berger's attorney, one other plead guilty to failing to file taxes


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A pair of area lawyers pleaded guilty today to failing to file their taxes, including Brian Berger's attorney.

The Department of Revenue says Dennis Sullivan Jr. of Wilmington, who is representing the New Hanover County Commissioner on his assault charge, as well as Sam Edwards of Ocean Isle Beach both admitted to five county of willful failure to file their state tax returns. Both men paid the taxes and interest they owed before entering a plea.

Each received suspended 45-day jail sentences. They will each have to perform 50 hours of community service and pay $2,000 fines.
