NC Legislature still meeting

RALEIGH, NC (AP)-- North Carolina state lawmakers still have a little more work to do before they leave Raleigh on a long break.

General Assembly members couldn't finish their to-do list by the wee hours Friday morning as previously planned to wrap up their regular annual session. They still want to pass bills that would revamp forced
annexation rules, make slight changes to the new state budget and require large employers and local governments to confirm new workers are in the country legally.

The House will meet during at 10 a.m. today and Saturday morning. The Senate will meet Friday at 9 p.m. and early Saturday just past midnight. Once done this weekend, the Legislature won't reconvene until
July 13 for a weeklong session on redistricting and other elections-related bills.
