Scam paver no-show at contempt hearing

RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) -- A paver banned from working in North Carolina was a no-show this morning in Wake County Court. Noelle Talley, a spokeswoman for the NC Department of Justice says a lawyer for Tommy Clack, who got his start in Wilmington, did attend the criminal contempt hearing.

Earlier this month a judge found Clack in contempt for violating the order not to work in North Carolina. Today's hearing was Clack's chance to explain why he should not be found in contempt and sentenced to another six months in jail plus a fine.

The judge continued the criminal contempt hearing until July 18 at 10 a.m. because Clack has not been formally served by law enforcement with the show-cause order. Talley said law enforcement in Maryland, North Carolina and South Carolina are searching for him, but they have not yet been able to find him.

Clack still has not paid the $79,200 required under the civil contempt order of May 27, Talley said. She said Clakc will be taken into custody for 90 days on that earlier order once he is found. Maryland has two warrants out for his arrest on felony fraud charges.
