FAYETTEVILLE, NC (AP) -- Authorities say the driver of an 18-wheeler was distracted by doughnuts when he overturned his big rig in Fayetteville.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that Harvey Jeffrey Hair was cited by police for driving left of center when his truck ran off the highway and overturned just before 7 a.m. Monday
The Linden man was treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
Trooper J.C. Bunce says the 41-year-old driver admitted he was eating doughnuts when he lost control of the truck. The crash caused River Road to be closed to traffic for several hours.
The empty tractor-trailer was en route to pick up a load of vegetable oil. The truck is registered to Apex PTO and Trailer Inc. of Raleigh.
