Former Camp Lejeune Marine pleads guilty in death

JACKSONVILLE, NC (AP) -- A former Camp Lejeune Marine has
pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the strangulation death
of a woman he met on a social networking site.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported former Pvt. Raul Enrique
Torres Almodovar was sentenced Wednesday to 13-to-16 years in
prison for killing 29-year-old Anneka Lasseter.

Lasseter had been missing for nearly a week in May 2010 when
detectives found her car in a parking lot. Surveillance footage
showed Lasseter getting out of her vehicle and into Almodovar's.

Investigators say the 25-year-old Almodovar told detectives
where to find Lasseter's body, which had been dumped in a drainage
ditch near Maysville.

Police said the couple had dated for a month before her death.
It is not clear whether Lasseter knew Almodovar was married to
another woman.
