WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Today marks the end of an era at UNC Wilmington. It's Rosemary DePaolo's last official day on the job at the university.
DePaolo has been chancellor since 2003 arriving from Georgia College and State University. She is leaving UNCW was one of the top five public masters universities in the south and one of the top 20 Best Values in the nation among other accomplishments.
In October DePaolo announced her retirement saying she and her husband want to spend more time together and that it's time for a new leader with a new vision.
That new leader is Gary Miller. He officially takes over at UNCW tomorrow. The school named Miller chancellor May 3.
The 57-year-old comes from Wichita State University in Kansas, where he was Provost and Vice President. He has also taught and held leadership positions at several colleges and universities across the country.
