Raleigh officer fired following misconduct probe

READ MORE:

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- A Raleigh police sergeant has been fired
after being accused of misconduct.

Sgt. Rick Armstrong was among three officers placed on leave
earlier this year after an investigation into sexual misconduct.

The other officers are no longer with the department.

Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said Armstrong was dismissed
earlier this month. He had been with the department since 1997.
Sughrue would not elaborate on the reason for Armstrong's
termination.

Armstrong denies the allegations and says he will appeal the
dismissal.

He is the former president of the Raleigh Police Protective
Association, a professional association that represents the
interests of police officers. He also is a member of the state Law
Enforcement Training and Standards Commission.
