WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)-- At approximately 9:45 p.m. Saturday night a man on a bicycle was hit near the 7200 block of Eastwood Road heading towards Wrightsville Beach.

WWAY has confirmed with Wilmington City Councilman Charlie Rivenbark that it was his 33 year old son Travis on that bicycle.

Travis Rivenbark was seriously injured and transported to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Councilman Rivenbark says his son is in serious condition and that "It is not looking good at all." He also said there is a chance of paralysis.

No charges have been placed at this time.
