Carteret Co. charges pair with credit-card scam


HAVELOCK, NC (AP) -- The Carteret County Sheriff's Office has
charged two Brooklyn, N.Y., residents with possessing counterfeit
credit cards.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported Wednesday that
30-year-old Terrance Herman Pringle and 20-year-old Esmeralda
Victoria Gamboa each face 68 counts of possessing counterfeit
credit cards.

Gamboa also faces drug charges. Deputies say she tried to
smuggle marijuana into the county jail.

Officials say Highway Patrol trooper Joe Tucker pulled over the
pair Monday near Newport on suspicion of reckless driving. Tucker
says he found stacks of new electronics along with 70 counterfeit
credit cards, $1,500 in cash, 46 gift cards and 87 pre-paid credit

The FBI has joined the investigation.

Gamboa's bond was set at $1 million. Pringle's bond is $750,000.
It was unclear if they have an attorney.
