3 family members charged in Wake County shooting

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Wake County deputies say three family
members from Durham have been arrested in connection with a fatal
shooting outside a vacant Raleigh home.

Investigators said 18-year-old Pedro Fernandez killed
44-year-old Santiago Hernandez-Arredondo about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say Fernandez is charged with murder and conspiracy
to commit assault with a deadly weapon. His stepfather, 43-year-old
Tirso Mondragon-Cuevas, and an uncle, 30-year-old Rene Mendoza
Lopez, are charged with conspiracy to commit assault and accessory
after the fact to murder.

Investigators didn't release a motive for the shooting or how
the suspects may have known the victim.

Fernandez was being held in the Wake County jail without bond.
His stepfather and uncle were being held on $1.5 million secured
bonds. It wasn't clear if they had attorneys.
