When purchasing my property I took in consideration the location and the taxes that were going to be paid on the property--only to discover that the city could annex and that I would not have a voice in the decision. When I received the petition, I noticed that since I have married after purchasing the home, I am required to get the form notarized (another task on my part) to complete the denial process. It seems to me that when residents purchase homes in an area out of the city limits they choose that to lower their tax liability. It does not seem "fair" for others to dictate to an area that was not in city limits, without a voice from those who will be responsible to pay the additional tax.
