WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)-- Boat lovers from as far as Charleston came to Wilmington Saturday to show off their wooden vessels in the 12th Annual Cape Fear Community College Boat Show. Most boats that were on display were either hand built or wooden boats that have been refurbished. There was also sections for kids and adults to build their own boats. "One of the reasons for the boat show is to gain awareness for the boat building programs," said boat manufacturer and service instructor Paul Winchell. "We have a wooden boat building course and a fiberglass boat manufacture and service course which I teach. They're great programs. They run a full year, August to August and we'll be getting geared up here in the next few weeks for another year." Event organizers expect between 4,000 and 5,000 people to attend the show throughout the day.
