STORMTRACK 3: High temperatures blaze through records

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington hit 101 degrees Saturday, breaking the old record for the day and making 2011 one of the hottest years on record.

101 breaks the old record for July 30 of 100 which was set back in 1952 and tied again in 1999.

Saturday's high temp also means we've had seven days of heat measuring 100 degrees or more this year. That ties 1952, when the Port City also experienced seven days in the triple digits.

Summer isn't over yet, and this year could continue breaking records!
