State releases school report cards; see how your school did

READ MORE:

RALEIGH, NC (AP) -- Report cards are in for North Carolina's public schools.

State school officials on Thursday released the annual ABCs of Public Education report, which shows how students performed on end-of-the year and end-of-course tests taken in grades 3 through 12.

The report shows rising high school graduation rates and fewer students meeting a key learning standard.

Graduation rates improved in 2011 with almost 8 out of 10 students completing high school four years after they start. School officials say that's the highest ever reported in North Carolina.

But the schools meeting academic growth standards fell from 88 percent in 2009-10 to 81 percent last year.
