As I was in my son's pediatrician's office the other day, I overheard a comment from a person behind me waiting to see the receptionist. The lady told her daughter that every child gets medicaid and that when she has her children, she'll be able to get medicaid for them as well because it's free for kids. I pay for my son's health insurance out of pocket. I do not qualify for medicaid. Parents teach their children that these programs are available and the "get something for free" mentaility persists from generation to generation. This has to stop! Nothing is free. I do believe in taking care of children and that there are hardships people face. I do not believe in people using hardships as an excuse to have something for "free". Something has to change. Hardworking Americans pay the price for many people who do not want to do for themselves because they know someone else will take care of it. It's not fair and it teaches the wrong lesson to our children.
