Jacksonville SEAL killed in Afghan crash recalled as daring

JACKSONVILLE, NC (AP) -- Family and friends are remembering a Navy SEAL killed in a weekend helicopter attack in
Afghanistan as physically slight but ever ready to take on a challenge.

The family of 36-year-old Chris Campbell was at Dover Air Force Base on Tuesday to receive his body.

Diane Campbell of Jacksonville says if her son thought he could do something, he'd give it a try. His father, Larry, tells The Daily News of Jacksonville that after graduating from White Oak High School, Chris said he had a plan to join the Navy and become one of the elite SEALs.

Chris Campbell's former high school football coach, Jack Baile, tells The Associated Press that Campbell always wanted to try to prove he was up to a test.
